Animation

Animation
Animation is a powerful visual medium that involves the creation of moving images through a series of rapidly changing drawings, models, or computer-generated graphics (Betrancourt & Tversky, 2000). In the context of English language teaching, animation refers to the use of animated content to enhance the teaching and learning experience. Animations, with their colorful characters, captivating visuals, enjoyable sounds, and songs, naturally attract learners’ attention more effectively than static messages (Höffler & Leutner, 2007). Animation can also simplify complex language concepts and make them more accessible to learners. Through animated characters, stories, and scenarios, abstract grammar rules, vocabulary, and language structures can be presented in a visual and interactive manner. The integration of animated videos, including cartoons and comics, along with pictures, audio, and video, in language teaching has proven to be an effective strategy for improving students' motivation, language skills, and overall proficiency (Derrick, 2008). By contextualizing language instruction through animated stories, teachers can create exciting learning experiences and integrate interactive tasks and activities (Yıldırım & Torun, 2014). Animated videos provide engaging audiovisual experiences, reinforce vocabulary and grammar, enhance listening abilities, and promote speaking skills. By utilizing the captivating nature of animations, teachers can create a dynamic and immersive learning environment that fosters learners’ active participation and a positive attitude towards English language learning (Egounletia et al., 2018).
